We are a happy School! We are a disciplined school and… We are proud of our school!
When social responsibility initiatives at schools meet fun, the outcome is sheer joy, especially if the students essay a major role. In breaking new philanthropic grounds, students, teachers and parents of Daffodils Foundation for Learning came together for a mega fund-raiser aptly called ‘Joy of Sharing’, on 30th July 2022. From setting up eateries to funky games stalls to crafty handicrafts corners to elitist literary stalls, the school campus came alive and vibrant. Students were the event managers, teachers- their facilitators and parents/families- the participants. This school social responsibility event was a resounding success as it could raise whopping proceeds to be donated for benevolent causes and made its mark in commemorating the school founder’s (Late Shri PK Bheemaiah) birth centenary celebrations. It was his vision to strike a balance between the haves and have-nots in a society through educational institutions.
From the earliest times of barter to the present metaverse times, nature’s rule has it that one life form lives for another; shares with another. Daffodils Foundation for Learning demonstrated this school of thought by fusing novelty and nobleness together and drove a virtuous purpose through their ‘Joy of Sharing’.
Yoga is a multidimensional fitness and wellness tool with a universal appeal. Known for its abundant benefits, it has emerged to be the most popular way of life for many, globally. The UN has proclaimed 21st June as International Yoga Day to celebrate and practise Yoga.
Daffodils Foundation for Learning, Bangalore observed the day well to suit the 2022 theme of ‘Yoga for Humanity’. Students and staff from grades 1 through 10 performed various asanas and pranayama in unison under the guidance of the Yoga instructor Mrs Yogita, who also spoke about the day’s significance. Interestingly, the school had invited people in its neighbourhood for a guided Yoga practice as part of its School Social Responsibility (SSR) initiative.
Alleviating climate change or environmental degradation has to be practised than theorised, considering the rate at which it can deteriorate lives of all life forms on our planet. One such impactful practice is to segregate plastic waste at source and ensure upcycling/recycling it, while reducing its usage sustainably. Humans owe it bigtime to the planet and that is a huge social responsibility.
Daffodils Foundation for Learning took strides in this direction by partnering with ‘Little Wise Club’ on 25th June in arranging a plastic collection drive, as a part of its School Social Responsibility (SSR). The school’s ‘Eco-Club’ members, sported their ‘Eco Warrior’ badges proudly and volunteered to collect plastic articles from parents, students and teachers, weighed them and handed them over for recycling/upcycling. Interestingly, a redeemable point system was devised to incentivize the initiative, making the event a huge draw for the participants. This SSR initiative onset the birth centenary celebrations of the school founder Late Shri P K Bheemaiah, a visionary educationist.
On this occasion of DFL proudly announced its collaboration with LITTLE WISE CLUB led by a 10 year old girl, an award winning podcaster, Siyona Vikram. Mrs. Geetha, mother of siyona addressed the students about the ill effects of plastic toys and gave a clarion call to stop using the plastic toys.
Students of Akash house presented a dance programme with a message to stop use of plastic. DFL will collaborate with LITTLE WISE (Warriors Inspiring Sustinable Earth) club and contribute towards making planet Earth a better place to live.
Team DFL congratulates Ms. Hema, SCHOOL CHRONICLER, Ms. Neetha Janardhan, grade 9 co-ordinator and principal Dr. Sujatha Girish on receiving a certificate of appreciation from the ministry of parliament affairs for successfully conducting Youth parliament session for the students of grade 9.
Some landmark days of national and international significance are celebrated in DFL to venerate great people, invoke patriotism and participative spirit of students and the teachers.
The learner-teacher synchronism, an accomplished leadership and a progressive management makes DFL, a school that harbingers happy learning!
